The second phase of the Rs 25 crore underground cabling project was officially launched in Vasco on Wednesday morning.

Vasco MLA Krishna Salkar launched the project in the presence of Mormugao Municipal Council (MMC) Chairperson Girish Borker, Ward Councillor Shami Salkar, officials from the electricity department, and others.

Speaking at the event, MLA Krishna Salkar outlined the scope of the second phase, which will focus on the St Joseph Vaz road.

“We have completed the first phase of Swatantra Path, and we have now launched the second phase. After completing the works on St Joseph Vaz road, we will move to the third phase, focusing on FL Gomes road. This will mark the completion of underground cabling in the city, after which we will extend the work to other parts of the constituency,” said Salkar.

The second phase is being carried out at a cost of Rs 6 crore, while the first phase was completed at a cost of Rs 11 crore. The upcoming third phase is projected to cost around Rs 8 crore.

Salkar assured that the second and third phases would be completed within six months, ensuring all work is wrapped up before the next monsoon season.

Highlighting ongoing development projects in the city, the MLA requested residents to cooperate during the temporary inconvenience caused by road digging.

“We are undertaking several development works simultaneously. I request citizens to bear with us for a better tomorrow,” appealed Salkar.
