MARGAO
The 3D land survey proposed by the Directorate of Settlement and Land Records figured at the gram sabha of the Seraulim village panchayat on Sunday.
At the gram sabha meeting chaired by Sarpanch Seema Shanke, gram sabha member Kevin D’Souza demanded that residents need clarity on process and obligations before the survey is undertaken in the village.
Fears were raised by some members whether the survey is nothing but an exercise to merge the village into the neighbouring Margao Municipal Council.
Gram sabha member Kevin D’Souza called upon the Chair to hold a public briefing explaining steps, timelines, documents required (title, old survey records, identification), and how to submit objections/clarifications.
He demanded that the authorities set up a help desk at the panchayat for boundary marking assistance and grievance redressal during the survey window.
He further requested that the authorities announce the dates, appoint nodal officers, and circulate a simple checklist (English/Konkani) at least 10 days prior to the start of the survey.
