The meeting chaired by sarpanch Domingo Fernandes witnessed the gram sabha adopting resolutions demanding the construction of the western bypass on stilts passing through the low-lying areas of the village.
The sarpanch told The Goan after the meeting that the resolution demanding construction of the western bypass on stilts was adopted at the Sunday gram sabha after the panchayat received written applications from the villagers.
On the rail doubling project, the sarpanch said that villagers are of the strong opinion that since there already exits a railway line passing through the village, the authorities should not go for doubling of the tracks at the cost of the houses and human habitation.
Both the western bypass and the rail doubling project had figured prominently at the village panchayat meetings during the previous term, with villagers opposing the rail doubling project and demanding construction of the western bypass on stilts.
The issue of migrants and tenants putting up at rented premises in the village also came up for discussion at the gram sabha. Members pointed that though many a landlord has leased their premises for the tenants, the panchayat has not benefitted by way of rent. They demanded that the panchayat make it mandatory for landlords to pay one month rent for the panchayat as per the rules.
The sarpanch assured the members that the matter will be discussed at the forthcoming meeting of the panchayat body.

MARGAO: If Aadhaar card is now linked to avail all facilities in the state by the government, why are
these cards not linked to the EPIC cards to ensure that migrant voters do not violate the election
norms?
This question was posed at the Seraulim gram sabha on Sunday when members pointed out the
growing presence of migrants voters and no effective steps taken to curb their voting rights since they ought to be exercising their franchise in their native places.
Members felt that linking Aadhar with the EPIC should be explored by the authorities so that names of voters registered at two places can be deleted immediately.
