MAPUSA
Following the Electricity Department's recent action to remove dangling cables from electricity poles in Mapusa, internet service providers and cable operators have been scrambling to restore services for affected customers.
On Sunday, staff from various service providers were seen working quickly to re-hoist data and TV cables back onto the poles.
The sudden removal of these cables caused widespread disruption, with many residents losing internet and cable TV connectivity.
Service providers voiced their frustration over the lack of prior notice from the Electricity Department.
They argued that a more phased or coordinated approach would have allowed them to prepare for the disconnection, minimizing the inconvenience to residents and businesses.
“We were blindsided by the sudden action. If we had been given more time or a heads-up, we could have worked together to avoid this disruption. Now, we’re left rushing to restore service under pressure,” said one internet service provider.
The disruption caused embarrassment in several offices and left residents without access to their favourite TV channels.
