Sesa workers remanded to 14 days judicial custody

JMFC Bicholim has remanded the arrested workers of Sesa Goa Mining Company Employees Union to 14 days judicial custody.

Bicholim PI Narayan Chimulkar said the workers were produced before JMFC Bicholim on Tuesday when the court remanded them to 14 days judicial custody.

It may be recalled that a group of some workers on December 7 allegedly assaulted a worker, Jagdish Arondekar while he was returning home from work. Arondekar, who had been on strike for last many days along with other workers, had rejoined work.

Following the assault, the victim and the company had filed a police complaint with Bicholim Police. The police arrested Deepak Popkar, Kishore Lokre, Deepak Kinalkar, Sagun Haldankar, Mahesh Kauthankar, Anand Gad, Pandurang Mayekar and Devu Ghatwal under Sections 143, 147, 323, 504, 506-II, 427, 395 r/w Section 149 of IPC.
