The Commission declared that though the condom advertisement on KTC buses is educational in nature, it portrays a woman’s body in negative light.
“There are certain Central Government rules about the matter displayed on advertisements. These rules put limitations on display of certain parts of the human body. Exposing of certain parts of a woman’s body is not acceptable,” Adv Vidhya Shet Tanavade, chairperson of the commission, said.
“Sex education in schools is compulsory. We don’t have a problem with actor Sunny Leone. We have never objected to the educational advertisement of condoms. But there is a difference between exposure of a woman’s body and sex education,” Nina Naik, a member of the commission clarified.
In February, the commission had directed the Kadamba Transport Corporation to take down the condom advertisements featuring actress Sunny Leone displayed on numerous KTC buses.
