The South Goa Planning and Development Authority (SGPDA) has decided to introduce pay parking on the sprawling ground at the Old Market.
To begin with, the SGPDA has decided to introduce pay parking on a small parcel of land of the sprawling ground opposite the INOX theatre as a pilot project.
Briefing the media after the SGPDA meeting, PDA Chairman, MLA Krishna Salkar informed that the PDA members have given their nod for the introduction of pay parking on the PDA grounds. Infact, he pointed out that the PDA meeting has decided to levy Rs 10 for a two-wheeler as parking charges for an hour and Rs 50 per day.
“It has been decided to start pay parking on the PDA land on experimental basis. If the project turns out successful, the project will be further extended by bringing more areas under pay parking,” he added.
Meanwhile, the SGPDA meeting has decide to auction the plots at Dhavli after completing the formalities. The PDA chairman informed that most of the formalities have been completed and the plots will be disposed of via auction.
