125 bids received for 18 iron ore dumps

The Directorate of Mines and Geology (DMG) has received a total of 125 bids for 18 iron ore dumps, which are put up for e-auction. 

The e-auction of over 5.2 million metric tons of minerals lying in the form of dumps will commence from January 22. The largest dump with a total quantity of over 14 lakh metric tons is lying in the villages of Bandoli and Cormonem, followed by 11.7 lakh metric tons at Sonus Vonvoliem. 

DMG last month issued a notice inviting tender (NIT). The last date to apply for the e-auction is January 9 while the technical bids would be opened on January 10. The names of technically qualified bidders will be announced on January 20.

Director of Mines Narayan Gad said that 125 bids are received for 18 dumps which are laying across various locations. 

The dumps taken up for e-auction in the first phase are located in the villages of Costi, Sancordem, Dabal, Rivona, Codli, Honda, Sirsaim, Collem, etc. The total quantity of dump identified for e-auction is around 5.2 million metric tons.

Gad said that the dump grade varies between 45 Fe content to 50 Fe content as per the dump profile study undertaken by the agency. 

DMG has said that the dumps that are being auctioned are being auctioned on as is where the basis is and that DMG shall not be responsible for the quantity, quality and recovery of the iron ore from the dumps.
