Shack gutted in fire at Calangute

A shack at Khobrawaddo, Calangute beach was gutted in a fire on Wednesday morning. Around Rs 10 lakh loss is estimated due to the fire.  

A fire broke out at around 6.30 in the morning at a shack called ‘Hangover’ belonging to Saiman D’Souza.  

When workers from neighbouring commercial establishments noticed the smoke coming out from the kitchen of the shack, they immediately woke up the four workers sleeping inside the shack and called emergency fire services.   

However, by the time the fire personnel actually arrived at the spot, the fire had totally engulfed the shack.   

Two big refrigerators, 3 small refrigerators, tables, chairs, cots, furniture, liquor bottles, soft drink bottles, gas stove, besides cash of Rs 28,000 which was inside the cash counter was lost in the fire. 

The cause of the fire is not ascertained yet, and Calangute police are investigating.

‘Complaints under RERA must be disposed in 60 days’
