MARGAO
A delegation of All Goa Private Shack owners Association called on TCP Minister Vijai Sardesai with the Goa Coastal Zone Management Authority (GCZMA) virtually sleeping with their application for NOCs for the last six months.
After giving the private shack owners led by Association president Dharmesh Sanglani and Milton Marques a patient hearing, the TCP Minister telephonically spoke to the GCZMA Member Secretary Parag Nagarcekar and later told the shack owners that they will receive the NOCs by Feb 10.
Sanglani told the media that though they had completed the formalities long ago, around June last year, they are still to receive the licenses. “We had met Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar along with Ministers Vinod Palienkar and Jayesh Salgaokar, but though the CM had promised to issue the licenses at the earliest, the GCZMA is still to issue the licenses”, Sanglani said.
He and Milton Marques pointed out that the tourism season will end in another three months, while demanding to know why their shack licenses have still not been issued by the authorities. “We all Niz Goemkars engaged in the shack business right from Arambol to Canacona. Though the private shack owners are around 500 in number, around 10,000 families are directly or indirectly depending on the shack trade’, he said.
They, however, thanked Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar, South Goa MP Narendra Sawaikar and others for extending the validity of the license of private shack owners to five years. The TCP Minister later said that the GCZMA Member Secretary Parag Nagarcekar has assured him that the files pending with the Authority will be processed by February 8 and the licenses issued by Feb 10.
