Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Wednesday said Union Home Minister Amit Shah has responded positively to Goa's request and assured that the process for granting political reservation would be completed as early as possible.
Sawant was speaking to media persons upon his arrival at Dabolim Airport, following a visit to New Delhi where he held a meeting with Shah to discuss several issues concerning the State.
The chief minister said the meeting with the union home minister was positive and focused primarily on the implementation of political reservation for Scheduled Tribes in the State.
He expressed confidence that the assurance by Shah would soon translate into concrete action.
Besides the issue of tribal political reservation, Sawant said other matters concerning Goa were also discussed during the meeting.
He reiterated that the State government would continue to work closely with the central government to safeguard the interests of Goa.
