The Deputy Chairman of the Rajya Sabha on Friday informed Goa Rajya Sabha MP Shantaram Naik that his notice of breach of privilege against Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be examined by the chairman.
Naik had submitted the notice against the PM for not making a statement in the House on demonetisation while he made several statements outside the House.
He had claimed that the PM had violated the oath of office to preserve and protect the Constitution.
The notice held that statements by the PM on demonetisation could not have been made outside Parliament when both the Houses of Parliament were in session.
Naik sought to point out that while the PM himself appeared on television on November 8 to announce the decision, he did not feel the need to attend the Rajya Sabha and intervene in the daylong debate on the pressing issue.
