MARGAO
Hitting out at former Chief Minister Digambar Kamat for his recent statement on mining, regional plan and mining, Margao BJP Mandal leader Sharmad Raiturkar on Wednesday said the government does not need the advice of a former Chief Minister, who is out on anticipatory bail in two cases of corruption and has done nothing on the development front in his home constituency Margao.
Addressing the media to unveil the party programme on the BJP Foundation Day on April 6, Sharmad attacked the former Chief Minister Digambar Kamat for his stand that he can solve the mining issue within days. “How can this man, who is out on anticipatory bail, assure to resolve the mining crisis within days. Goa has already faced the heat in the mining sector and we do not need advise from a man who is facing criminal cases against him,” he said.
Sharmad pointed out that Digambar will soon be completing 25 years ever since he was elected as MLA representing Margao constituency. “Digambar has been a minister and chief minister for full five years. Let him explain to Madgavkars in what way Margao city has benefited during the five years when he presided over the affairs of the state,” Sharmad said, adding that while the capital city represented by Chief Minister Mannohar Parrikar has seen a host of developments aimed at decongesting Panjim, Margao’s traffic woes remain unresolved till date.
“Digambar Kamat had no vision for Margao for the last 25 years. And, we are surprised that he is giving advice to the state government on issues such as mining, power and RP,” he added.
Welcoming the decision of Power Minister Pandurang Madkaikar to give relief to power consumers consuming 200 units, Sharmad said proposed plans to generate additional power, including generation of solar energy, will benefit the state.
