Twelve tourists were left injured after a bus in which they were travelling and a tipper truck collided head-on early Monday morning at Bhatpal in Canacona.
According to Canacona police, the bus bearing registration number GA-07 F-6505 with around 12 tourists was proceeding to Murudeshwar in Karnataka.
Two of the women tourists Teslore Guzal and Trosova Golina had to be shifted to Hospicio hospital in Margao as their injuries were serious. The others were brought to the Community Health Centre, Canacona, where they were administered first aid and discharged.
According to sources, on reaching Bhatpal, the bus steered to its right on a sharp left turn couple of metres before approaching the Ordhofond Bridge and hit the truck ((GA-01 U-4898) head-on. The truck, which was loaded with mud, was headed to Canacona at about 6.15 am.
The impact left the front portion of both the vehicles damaged. The accident left traffic stranded for well over one-and-half hours, before Canacona police, including traffic cell, with the help of the fire services personnel cleared the road blockade.
