The Curti-Khandepar gram sabha on Sunday resolved to revoke the resolution and NOC issued in 2014, supporting the Sewerage Treatment Plant (STP).
The Curti-Khandepar gram sabha, presided by Sarpanch Rukma Khandeparkar, discussed the STP issue with the locals following which the locals clarified that they don’t have an objection to the pipeline network.
“We only demand shifting of STP from the proposed site at Housing Board Curti to a non-residential area,” the locals demanded.
On Saturday, about 70 locals from Housing Board Curti stopped the work of laying a pipeline for the proposed STP.
Prakash Sawant, president of a housing society, along with other locals attended the gram sabha and demanded that the panchayat revoke the resolution adopted in 2014 for STP. Hence, the resolution was revoked unanimously.
As police reached the panchayat hall, the locals wanted to know why they were summoned for gram sabha. While pacifying the gathering, Khandeparkar clarified they had not called the cops, but they may have come to maintain law and order after knowing about the issues.
The gram sabha also resolved to take people into confidence if any mobile phone company wanted NOC to erect mobile towers in the village. People from Curti have opposed two mobile towers in their vicinity, while people from Khandepar have opposed one tower. The budget of projected Rs 2.38 crore was also presented in the gram sabha.
