Goa Forward Chief and Fatorda MLA Vijai Sardesai has said the huge turnout of Fatordekars and Madgavkars for the Shigmo parade on Sunday are indications that good days are in store for the people.
He and his Margao counterpart, Digambar Kamat came together to usher in the Shigmo celebrations in the commercial capital on Sunday, as the duo maintained that Shigmo is being celebrated in the city by taking everyone together. BJP Navelim MLA Ulhas Tuemkar also participated in the festivities.
Sardesai told the media that Shigmo is one festival which unites and does not divide people. Without taking names, Sardesai said that certain politicians had in the past tried to divide the people by having two Shigmos in the city.
“The turn out for the Shigmo parade in the city despite the ongoing examination schedule show that good days are back for the people. The Shigmo festivities has sent a message to the people from the land of Lord Dambab that people want unity and not division”, he said.
Margao MLA Digambar Kamat said people of Margao had in the past seen two Shigmo festivals in the city. “We have brought all people, who were into the organization of Shigmo such as Arun Raikar under one together”, he said.
