Shiroda Carnival parade on Feb 9
Option of opting for govt prizes or locally sponsored prizes

Stating that Carnival floats parade will be organised in his constituency on February 9, Social Welfare Minister and Shiroda MLA Mahadev Naik has given an option to participants to opt for government sponsored or locally sponsored competitions.
Addressing a news conference in the city, Naik said, “This is the fourth year of Carnival in Shiroda and it has given much encouragement to the local performers and artistes,” Naik said.
“The tourism department has announced prizes worth Rs 6 lakh and my workers have also collected money to sponsor more prizes.”
“We will give an option to participants to choose participation on whether they want prizes from government fund or locally sponsored. We will inform them about terms and condition on the spot,” Naik informed.
When asked whether the government should provide more funds, as he had to seek local sponsors, Naik declined to answer.
In the traditional floats category, the cash prize will be Rs 2.5 lakh; club and institutions - Rs 1.72 lakh, fun junk - Rs 68,500, family -Rs 68,500 and clown/joker -Rs 41,000. Consolation prizes will also be awarded.
Naik further said the Carnival floats parade will start from Bhati and conclude in the area of Shivnathi temple. The floats will be judged near the Shiroda bus stop.
