Shocker! Mandrem man gets power bill of Rs 57.36 lakh

PERNEM

An electricity bill was enough to give a consumer from Deulwada-Mandrem a shock, when he found out that he was charged a whopping bill of Rs 57,36,285 for a period of 32 days.

Speaking to reporters, Keshav Mandrekar said only two persons reside in the house and his power bills used to be in the range of Rs 750-800 per month.

“I approached the electricity department office at Agarwada and discussed the matter with the officers. They assured me that the bill would be rectified and the regular bill would be sent next month. But I was unsure about this assurance as the copy of my original bill was not taken by the officer and how would they know the details in the bill to get it corrected,” asked Mandrekar.

Mandrekar then sent a copy of the bill through social media to the CM’s OSD and sought urgent intervention in the matter. News of the huge power bill went viral on social media, with many netizens mocking the electricity department for the goof-up.

The Rs 57.36 lakh power bill was finally corrected by the electricity department and Mandrekar was later handed over a fresh bill for Rs 538.
