Shop gutted in fire at Canacona

A fire destroyed a makeshift shop storing mattresses and partially damaged the Saraswati temple at Char-Rasta late Wednesday night.

According to reports, the fire broke out at about 10 pm and quickly spread in the shop storing mattresses, pillows and other material. Sources said some onlookers had heard a blast moments before the flames engulfed the shop.

Due to the fire, the window panes at nearby Saraswati temple also shattered and there were fears that the fire could have spread to the temple. TGN
