Vasco police have recovered silver ornaments worth around Rs 1.15 lakh allegedly stolen from a Ganapati idol at Siddhivinayak Venkateshwara Sausthan, Mangor Hill.
According to a complaint filed by Prashant Narvekar, the theft occurred between August 14 and 17. A silver chain, necklace and Mukuta placed on the idol were allegedly stolen.
During the investigation, police examined CCTV footage and identified a suspect who was later allegedly seen at a jewellery shop attempting to sell the ornaments.
Based on the footage and further investigation, a police team apprehended the suspect at New Vaddem. Police found that the suspect was a minor and subsequently recovered the stolen ornaments. The minor was admitted to Apna Ghar, Merces. Vasco police registered an offence under Sections 331(3), 331(4) and 305(d) of the BNS.
