Criticizing the BJP government’s move to foist the river front project against the wishes of the people of Siolim, Goa Forward Party, mentor, Vijai Sardessai said BJP-led government was out to sell Goa.
“Initially, the river front project was launched at just Rs 2 crore. But later, the cost of the river project escalated to Rs 20 crore. Does this not stink of a major scam,” Sardessai asked.
Sardessai was speaking after launching the Goa Forward Party Siolim candidate Vinod Palyekar’s door-to-door campaign from his party office in Siolim. GFP leader, Milton Marques, party spokesman, Kamat and other leaders were also present.
The party leaders went door to door distributing a coconut which is the party’s symbol and literature to the voters in Siolim.
Speaking further, the Fatorda MLA said GFP was not interested in caste, creed or religion of a person.
“Our party is only concerned about the welfare of Goa and its people. Goans want to live with respect in their land and we have given this respect to Goans by giving opportunity to youth in our party,” he said.   He vowed that Goa Forward will toil hard so that BJP does not come to power again in the State.
Vinod Palyekar said his aim was only to bring about development in Siolim constituency.   “Unlike the present MLA, I will keep my word and will carry out whatever I promise to the people of Siolim,” he said.   Former sarpanch and senior panch of Verla-Canca, Milton Marques called on the electorate to reject
the corrupt and un-performing local MLA in 2017 polls.
