Slippery roads, fire keep Margao firemen on their toes

Margao fire personnel were literally on their toes after unseasonal rains hit the city and outside on Saturday.

Complaints of slippery condition of roads came from different parts of the city. Road were either barricaded with barricades or coconut leaves to alert motorists.

The fire brigade not only cleared a coconut tree fallen on the compound wall and road near the South Goa district court, but attended to emergency and fire calls.

In the morning, the fire team rushed to Arlem after waste was found littered on the road, causing slippery conditions. The fire personnel cleared the waste from the road from Arlem to Ambaji.

The fire brigade also rushed to Davorlim near the junction following information of oil spillage on the road.

The team also headed to Aquem after lights put up on a tree and compound wall caught fire near a hospital.
