Normal life was disrupted due to unseasonal rains in several parts of Bicholim on Saturday.
Heavy rains were reported in Bicholim, Mayem, Velguem, Surla, Kudnem, Navelim, Amona, Harwale and Pali, taking people by surprise and many got drenched in the rains.
The sudden unseasonal rains caused heavy losses to farmers. As harvesting has started in Surla Panchayat area, rice cultivation got damaged due to rains. Farmers have feared further damages if rains continue to wreak havoc in the taluka.
A number of marriage ceremonies and religious rituals across the taluka were also hampered on account of the sudden rains.
