According to figures released by Goa Electronic Ltd (GEL), 154 claims were received under the scheme in 14 hospitals including GMC and empanelled private hospitals. Of the 154 claims, 126 were approved. Manipal Hospital registered the second highest number of claims with 31 cases and Rajagiri Victor Hospital received 19 claims.
Speaking to The Goan, GMC Dean Dr Pradeep Naik said it was too soon to comment on whether patients coming to the hospital are on a decline. “Presently, all patients coming to the GMC get treated free of cost. It will be too early to comment on whether or not it will affect the hospital because we treat those without the card too,” he said.
He added that other government hospitals including the North Goa district hospital and Sub District hospital, Ponda were also receiving claims.
Speaking to media persons, GEL chairman Dattaprasad Naik said the organisation had achieved its target of registering one lakh families and are now looking to complete registering two lakh families by end of October.
“On an average, 3,500 cards are issued every day at the 17 kendras around the State. A total of 1.8 lakh families are insured under the scheme, well beyond our target of one lakh. 7.2 lakh citizens are covered under the scheme. This in itself is a record for the scheme,” he said.
Naik also said there was a high number of forms and cards being distributed in the talukas of Canacona (7,907 forms distributed and 5,118 cards distributed) followed by Sanquelim and Bicholim. He, however, said there was a low turnout from the Salcete taluka.
As on date, 1,80,322 forms were distributed of which 1,60,596 had already undergone the process of data entry. 1,43,361 were already verified while 5,322 were yet to be verified as the documents submitted were incomplete. 3,551 had to be cancelled as they were not eligible.
Naik also informed that an Aadhar card registration camp had been undertaken through which 5,000 people had been registered in less than two months.
