PANAJI
Imagine Panaji Smart City Development Ltd (IPSCDL) has begun work in Central Panaji’s market area and announced temporary closure of multiple road stretches in internal bylanes there.
In a press release, IPSCDL said key road stretches in the area will remain closed for vehicular traffic for nearly three weeks from Monday (February 9) to February 28 to facilitate essential roadwork.
The roads which will be closed add up to 1.415 kilometers and include the General Bernardo Guedes Road from Geeta Bakery to INOX (535 meters) where it intersects with the DB Marg at Campal.
Another major road stretch which will be closed is 380 meters of the MG Road from the UCO Bank at Govinda building to the La Capitol hotel junction.
Also to be closed are smaller stretches of the
Costa Alvares Road from Alfran Plaza to DB Road Junction (200 meters) which lines the CCP market on the east and the internal bylane behind the 2STC headquarters which connects the General Bernardo Guedes Road to the DB Marg (200 meters).
Two more internal lanes adjunct to the Costa Alvares Road (100 meters) are also shut.
Meanwhile, diversions to alleviate the inconvenience have been suggested and commuters have been advised to take the Swami Vivekananda Road and MG Road via Don Bosco School to reach the DB Road instead of using the General Bernardo Guedes Road which will be closed.
Also, IPSCDL has advised those using the MG Road to use the Swami Vivekananda Road to reach it at the Woodland Showroom before proceeding further.
