SMC advised to generate funds
BICHOLIM: Deputy Chief Minister Francis D’Souza has asked Sakhali Municipal Council (SMC) to generate its own revenue instead of depending on the State government's fund.
D'Souza was speaking during his visit to SMC’s office recently. He was accompanied by Sakhali MLA Dr Pramod Sawant, councillors Dayanand Boryekar and Upendra Karpe.
“SMC should now insist on generating its own funds so that there would be smooth development and they won’t have to depend on others for finance,” said D'Souza.
He further said SMC should co-operate with State government and chief officer as far as development works is concerned. He also advised SMC to collect the pending house and other taxes to earn revenue.
He assured to solve the problem of wages of contract workers and said workers attempting to delay their routine works will be retrenched.
