The Goa Congress on Saturday trained its guns on Chief Minister Pramod Sawant for going all the way to Amethi  with Union Minister for Textiles Smriti Irani when there were so many pressing issues in the state.

Amethi was adopted by former Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar, as part of a Parliamentary scheme.

GPCC chief Girish Chodankar, addressing media persons at the Congress headquarters enumerated the problems being faced by Goans like the unresolved formalin in fish issue, the mining ban, and unemployment. “The CM doesn’t find the time to solve issues being faced by Goans. But he can go to places like Karwar and Amethi to help people there,” said Chodankar.

“Sawant should join the Modi cabinet so he can go around and solve everyone’s issues,” said Chodankar sarcastically while pointing out that there were two villages adopted by Goa’s MPs in North and South Goa that the CM should visit and see how they’re faring.

“CM should visit Ibrampur in Pernem and Cola in Quepem constituency instead, which were adopted by BJP MPs Sripad Naik and Narendra Sawaikar in the last term,” he said.

CM needs to walk the talk on corruption

PANAJI: GPCC chief Girish Chodankar said the Congress would welcome the CM’s strong stance on corruption if he really were serious about it.

For starters, the Congress has asked the CM to prove that he means business by coming out with the truth about the floating restaurant in the Mandovi - Watermark.

“Watermark violates CRZ regulations. It has no permissions, yet the CM himself inaugurated it. What signal is he trying to send?” questioned Chodankar.

The Congress chief has asked Sawant to come on record to say that Watermark doesn’t violate any regulations. And if it indeed does, then to say why exactly he got involved in the inauguration.
