For the second time in the last one month, Margao Municipal trucks laden with garbage were all found parked at the Municipal Old Market garage on Tuesday.
Reason: The Sonsodo waste treatment plant was full with waste and a couple of trucks dumping the morning waste on the approach road to the plant.
Left with no option, the waste collected by the Municipal workers on Tuesday has been lying in the municipal vehicles, parked at the Old Market garage.
Given that the trucks are laden with waste in the garage, it is feared that the fleet of garbage vehicles may not be able to collect the waste from the city before the waste loaded in the vehicles are dumped at Sonsodo.
Sources in the civic body pointed out that the exercise to push the waste lying dumped at the entrance of the waste treatment plant may begin only in the morning, adding that unless space is created at the plant shed, it would not be possible to transport the city waste to Sonsodo.
Over a fortnight ago, a similar incident had arisen in the city, wherein waste collection and disposal had hit a block after the Sonsodo waste treatment plant was choked with waste.
