Sopte visited Bhatir area of Khind-Morjim along with WRD officer Ashok Harmalkar and voiced concern that houses in the area could suffer damage during the monsoon, as the sluice gate had been damaged and there was no retaining wall.
Sopte instructed the officers to construct a retaining wall before the monsoons and to make necessary arrangements to ensure that rainwater does not enter houses during monsoons. Harmalkar informed the MLA that he would try and undertake the work by floating a short-term tender.
Later speaking to media persons, Sopte said he had no objection regarding the Khind development work, but insisted that it should not pose any danger to houses in future.
