The 10 pm limit for using amplified sound will be extended up to midnight on 12 specific days this year including Christmas and New Year's eve, Ganesh Chathurthi and Diwali.
The Department of Environment has listed two days each for Christmas, Ganesh Chathurti and Diwali where the competent authority under the Noise Pollution (Regulation and Control) Rules is permitted to allow use of loudspeakers or public address system during night hours between 10 pm and midnight.
Holi (March 20), Easter Eve (April 21), Ganesh Chaturthi (2nd and 5th day on September 3 and 6), Anant Chaturdashi (September 12), first and last day of Navaratri (September 29 and October 7), Kojagiri Poornima (October 13), Diwali (October 26 and 27), Tripurari/Kartiki Poornima (November 12), Christmas (December 24 and 25) and New Year's Eve (December 31) are the days listed for the relaxation of sound ban.
