South Goa District Collector Asvin Chandru on Wednesday held a high-level meeting with forest officials and revenue officials from the district to take stock of the situation arising out of the fire incidents across the district.
Deputy Collectors, taluka Mamlatdars, besides forest and fire officials attended the meeting in the South Goa District Magistrate on Wednesday morning to take stock of the fire incidents.
Sources pointed out that the district Collector issued instructions to the forest officials to keep a track of the incidents given that forest areas have been engulfed by fire in the last few days.
The fire brigade was also told to report the incidents to the control room for coordinated action to bring the fires under control.
Sources in the know informed that the taluka mamlatdars have alerted all the village talathis to be on their guard and report the fire incidents in their respective jurisdictions. They have been further told to coordinate with the fire brigade so that the fires are brought under control at the earliest.
