CANACONA
In a circular issued by the Deputy Officer of Education Jose F Gomes on April 26, heads of all government aided and unaided primary, secondary and higher secondary schools in Canacona had been asked to attend a meeting by Canacona MLA Isidore Fernandes in the Shristhal panchayat hall on May 10, at 3 pm.
The agenda for the meeting included infrastructure of schools, position and requirements of teaching and non-teaching staff, playground and toilet facilities, library and laboratory facilities and sports materials for schools.
The Canacona BJP had complained to Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar about the circular.
Addressing a news conference a Chaudi on Saturday, Canacona BJP spokesperson Bhushan Prabhugaonkar had strongly objected to the circular and stated that “this is unwanted inference in the functioning of the government.”
“Education portfolio is with the chief minister and he is capable of handling the ministry and resolving issues concerning his ministries especially the education,” Prabhugaonkar had stated.
