The South Goa District Administration has constituted the District Monitoring Committee for Accessible Elections (DMCAE) under the chairpersonship of Egna Cleetus, IAS, Collector & District Election Officer, South Goa District, in the presence of Ramesh Gaonkar, Additional Collector-II and Shruti Kumtekar, MIC-I, in connection with the forthcoming General Elections to the Goa Legislative Assembly, 2027.
The Committee has been constituted with the objective of ensuring effective implementation of accessibility measures for Persons with Disabilities (PwDs) and senior citizens, and to facilitate an inclusive and barrier-free electoral process in the district.
The Committee comprises representatives from various departments and institutions, bringing together expertise in accessibility, social welfare, education, special education, infrastructure and related areas.
The Committee will monitor accessibility-related arrangements, facilitate coordination among concerned departments and institutions, and address issues concerning the participation of PwDs and senior citizens in the electoral process.
The Committee has been constituted in pursuance of the applicable Election Commission of India guidelines on Accessible Elections for the forthcoming Goa Legislative Assembly Election, 2027.
