The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Goa has expanded its #BJPCheBurak movement with a door-to-door signature campaign across South Goa. The campaign reached Margao, Fatorda, Quepem, Sanguem, Navelim, Nuvem, Mormugao, Dabolim, Shiroda and Curtorim, where people signed in huge numbers to demand immediate action on the State’s collapsing road infrastructure.
In Curtorim, AAP Vice President Roque Fernandes led the drive and heard first-hand accounts from residents who described how potholes have turned their daily travel into a nightmare. Many expressed anger that despite paying taxes, they continue to get unsafe roads that claim lives.
AAP highlighted that even Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has admitted during the Assembly Sessions that nearly half of Goa’s road accident deaths are linked to poor roads. “If the CM himself admits this, what more proof do we need that the government has completely failed?” Fernandes asked.
The party also drew a sharp contrast between the BJP’s promises and ground reality. “Union Minister Nitin Gadkari talks about India’s roads matching the US. But look at Goa, a tourism State, hosting international events, our roads are filled with potholes and waterlogging. What image does this give to the world?” Fernandes said.
He further added, “Lives are being lost on Goa’s roads, yet the government has no will to act. People are angry and they want change. They deserve safe roads, not empty promises.”
