MARGAO
Demanding scrapping of the track doubling project from Majorda to Vasco, South Goa MP Francisco Sardinha has made a fervent plea to the government to withdraw all the cases registered against the protesters, who had participated in the track doubling agitation in 2020.
He said the people of Goa had come to Chandor to register their protest against the track doubling project, but have now realised that cases have been filed against them.
“Please withdraw the cases. These people had not come to protest for their personal gains. Whatever they had done was for the interest of the State. The government should not close their eyes and should not show they have no heart,” he said, adding that the people have suffered enough and the government must withdraw the cases.
He said since the track doubling project has been completed in some stretches, the government should not allow track doubling along the Majorda-Vasco stretch, where there are heritage and old houses along the tracks.
