SANGUEM
South Goa MP Captain Viriato Fernandes on Tuesday promised to work for the development of Sanguem constituency, irrespective of party affiliations.
Fernandes was speaking to locals and party workers on his first visit to Sanguem constituency, since he was elected as South Goa MP.
He was given a rousing welcome on his arrival at Sanguem by Sanguem Block Congress Committee and others, who included Sanguem Congress Block President Jitendra Naik, Sanguem Councillor Meshu D’Costa, Malkarnem Panch Frazer Fernandes, Curdi-Wadem Panch Josephine Fernandes, Mithil Naique Dessai, Shrikant Naik and Aleixinho Fernandes.
Fernandes visited the Our Lady of Miracles Church at Sanguem and Shree Paikdev Temple to offer prayers, after his successful campaign in Sanguem.
Fernandes later thanked the voters from Sanguem constituency for their resounding support and assured to put in his best efforts to get the development and other works done in the constituency.
Fernandes also visited party workers at Curdi-Wadem and Rivona panchayats.
MP directs bank to assist
elderly woman at doorstep

South Goa MP Captain Viriato Fernandes visited a local bank while on his way to Rivona and insisted that an elderly woman, Bhagirathi Gaonkar, who is crippled and facing severe financial difficulties, be paid her monthly dole at her doorstep.
According to sources, Fernandes had visited Gaonkar at her residence sometime back and had assured to help her resolve her issue.
Bank officials assured Fernandes of doing the needful and visiting Bhagirathi at her house for payment of the monthly dole.
