The Electricity Department, Government of Goa, convened a District Electricity Committee (DEC) meeting for South Goa, chaired by South Goa Lok Sabha MP Capt. Viriato Fernandes, in the presence of Velim MLA Cruz Silva, South Goa Collector and District Magistrate Egna Cleetus, and senior officials of the Electricity Department.
The committee reviewed the progress of the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS), focusing on infrastructure development, prepaid smart metering, and the financial and operational performance of the power distribution system.
Power supply availability has also improved, reaching 23.84 hours in rural areas and 23.88 hours in urban areas. Officials reaffirmed their commitment to completing pending works within the extended RDSS timeline through FY 2027–28, while strengthening coordination between the Electricity Department and the local administration to ensure the scheme’s objectives are achieved.
