South MP offers to utilise MPLAD funds for improving water quality in Canacona

South Goa MP Francisco Sardinha has offered to make a provision of Rs 50 lakhs from his MPLAD fund to provide potable drinking water to the people of Canacona who are facing kidney-related problems.

After chairing the first meeting of the District Development Coordination & Monitoring Committee (DISHA) at the South Goa Collectorate, the MP told the media that he would not mind utilizing his MPLAD funds to improve the water quality supplied to the people of Canacona taluka.

Sardinha reviewed the various centrally-funded schemes in the presence of South Goa district Collector, Ruchika Katyal, IAS, as he interacted with officials of as many as 14 departments.

After ascertaining the difficulties faced by the departments, Sardinha set the officials a target to tide over the difficulties so that the intended beneficiaries receive benefits of the schemes.

The South Goa MP also promised to inspect the CCTV surveillance cameras and toilets installed in the tourist villages of Colva and Benaulim. 

“I have been told that some of the cameras were damaged during the cyclone. I will get a factual position of the cameras and the toilets after the inspection,” he said.

Reviewing the progress of works of the underground cabling in Rachol and Navelim, Sardinha told the officials not to start work immediately given the high water table in Rachol, but to take it up around November-December

The MP showed his interest in holding eye check-up camps across the district to distribute lenses for the people.
