In a surprise move, Speaker Ramesh Tawadkar on Saturday said he has withdrawn the 'breach of privilege' proceeding against former minister and multiple term former MLA Prakash Velip.
Tawadkar who made the announcement at the just before conclusion of the budget session said, the matter was "settled unanimously".
On Friday, Tawardkar had taken suo motto cognisance of alleged remarks made against him by Velip to the media and instituted the breach of privilege proceedings saying the allegations were made against the Speaker when the session was on.
Velip had been issued notice to present himself before the Assembly to explain his remarks.
Tawardkar said: "In consultation with the leader of the House Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, I have jointly deliberated with Prakash Velip and resolved the matter unanimously.”
