Special train carrying 1,500 pilgrims leaves for Valankanni

The special express train from Vasco to Vailankanni on Konkan Railway and Southern Railway routes was flagged off at Vasco railway station on Monday morning.
The special train, which is fully booked, left on its maiden trip this year from Vasco railway station at 11.20 am and is expected to reach Vailankanni at 1300 hours on Tuesday.
The first special train left for Vailankanni from Vasco with a full capacity of around 1500 pilgrims.
South Western Railway had decided to run these special trains to clear extra rush of passengers during feast of Our Lady of Good Health at the Vailankanni and the main stopovers for these express trains will be Margao, Mangalore, Shornur, Trichy and Nagapatnam.
According to Vasco Railway station Station Manager P C Chacko, 3 special trains have been introduced this festive season from Vasco to Vailankanni, of which the first train left from Vasco on Monday.
“Instead of 16 sleeper coaches, two AC coaches, two SLR and one parcel bogie has been attached. All trains leaving for Vailankanni are fully booked to capacity,” Chacko said.
