OLD GOA: Questioning the logic behind the note issued stating that STP water is being used for cooking purposes in kiosks operating outside GMC’s Super Sepciality Block (SSB), St Andre MLA Viresh Borkar asked whether the doctor concerned had any proof before issuing such a note.
Speaking to The Goan, Borkar asked, “Did the doctor concerned have any proof before issuing such a note? And what authority does a doctor have to issue such an advisory to his subordinates? Isn’t it the duty of the FDA to clamp down on unhygienic cooking?”
Furthermore, Borkar also stated that the kiosk owners are being unnecessarily harassed by such antics as the GMC authorities want to divert the business to a private entity.
“It is very clear that they want to increase the business of a private player,” Borkar said.
The MLA further pointed out that there is a plan to connect the GMC and the SSB, and block the road leading to the village.
“And the kiosks operating on the roadside are becoming a hindrance to this plan. And this note could possibly be one way of getting rid of the kiosks,” the MLA opined.
