After a glass panel of St Anthony Cross at Chicalim was damaged by miscreants on Friday, Chicalim panchayat has plans to install CCTV cameras at religious sites in the village.
While Vasco PI Kapil Nayak informed reporters on Saturday that he will write to the panchayat, Chicalim Panch Nilima Naik and said would move a resolution in this regard.
Speaking to reporters, Chicalim Panch and former ZP member Nilima Naik said people of Chicalim and Dabolim live in peace and harmony, respecting all religions.
“The police must immediately take efforts to nab the culprits and Chief Minister Pramod Sawant must intervene because these incidents are likely to repeat at different places.”
“We don’t have a CCTV near the St Anthony Cross at Chicalim and hence, I will move a resolution at our next meeting to install CCTV here and the church can monitor if there is any untoward incident.”
“The CCTV camera along this highway will also help police as part of investigations and to track criminals on the run,” said Naik.
Vasco PI Kapil Nayak said he would write to the Chicalim panchyat to install CCTVs around religious sites.
“The panchayat should install CCTV cameras around religious sites and at strategic points. CCTV cameras are vital and give a good lead in such cases and also help police to monitor movement of criminals,” said Nayak.
