Goa Velha VP issues stop-work notice to mobile tower

Following complaints from residents of Goa Velha over a mobile tower being constructed very close to the highway road, the panchayat has issued a stop-work notice to the same.

The notice was later pasted on the concrete base which was constructed overnight for the installation of the mobile tower.

In the notice, the panchayat has said that there is no permission/construction licence sought from the local authority.

Speaking to The Goan, panch Iyno D’Souza informed that work on the base for the mobile tower was started in the dead of Friday night and that too, very close to the highway road.

“Further, the location where the construction is undertaken is a catchment area and installation of a mobile tower over there is totally unacceptable,” D’Souza informed.

“We are not opposed to the installation of the mobile tower but we are opposed to its location. There is plenty of other area where the tower could be installed,” the panch stated.
