Even as presence of St Cruz Congress MLA Tony Fernandes at a function graced by Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar raised eyebrows in political circles, Fernandes has sought to downplay it by stating that he had attended the event as the project was related to his constituency.
Parrikar had laid the foundation stone for infrastructure works of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya Vidhya Sankul at Cujira at a function in the CM’s Office at the Secretariat, Porvorim. The works will include creation of new access road, improved parking lot and a sewage treatment plant.
“A foundation stone was laid for the Cujira Integrated School Complex and it is related to my constituency, which is the reason why I attended,” justified Fernandes.
“In the morning too, I was invited for an inauguration of projects at GMC Bambolim but I did not attend the same as it is not related to my constituency,” he further added.
When questioned whether he discussed any other issues with the CM, Fernandes replied in the negative.
