OLD GOA
The meeting was held at the residence of the MLA, on Saturday, wherein around 50 affected residents highlighted their grievances to the MLA and the power official. Fernandes apprised that the people are facing a lot of difficulty due to frequent power shutdowns in Santa Cruz, which sometimes lasts for hours mostly during the night time.
“The electricity dept staff posted at Santa Cruz is also ill-equipped and do not have basic spares like a copper wire, when the fuse gets tripped,” Fernandes told the power official and urged for a permanent solution to the crisis.
However, the power official said that the problem is occurring as consumers are using more load than they are allotted. “On a single phase connection, consumers are using air-conditioner, which actually requires a three-phase connection,” explained the official, while stating that the only solution to the problem is for the people to apply for increase in load.
After much discussion, the people agreed to apply for increase in load and MLA Fernandes stated that the forms would be available at his residence, and that he would extend all help required to solve the power problem.
