Police also arrested the accused, who was remanded to 10 days police custody.
According to the police, parents of the abducted girl rushed to the police station early Saturday morning, at around 1 am and reported that their minor daughter was kidnapped by some unknown persons.
Police verified the mobile details of the victim girl and after inquiring with family members and friends of the girl, zeroed in on the suspect, Sameer Aadhikari, who resided in Assagao but was a native of Bagalkot-Karnataka.
Police swung in action and arrested the suspect in the morning and after intense questioning managed to get a confession from the suspect.
“The accused managed to stay put in Goa, but sent the girl to his residence in Bagalkot so that nobody could doubt him,” Calangute PI Jivba Dalvi said.
The girl was rescued and brought to Goa and united with her family later in the evening.
The accused who was arrested earlier in the day for kidnapping under Section 363 of IPC and Section 8 of Goa Children’s Act 2003 has got 10 days police custody. Calangute Police are investigating the case.
