The vibrant and culturally rich tradition of Konkani music is all set to take centre stage once again as St Sebastian Parish on January 29 . This annual event is set to welcome participants from all parishes of Goa, showcasing the immense talent and passion for Konkani music in all its forms. The Kantaram Lharam competition, the brainchild of Fr Andrew Pereira (Parish Priest of St Sebastian Church Aquem 2017-2024) and Desmond Gomes took shape in the year 2022. The 3rd edition held in January 2025 had 90 participants.
The Organizing Committee under the leadership of Fr Simpliciano N Fernandes and Desmond Gomes is all set to invite participants from all Goa parishes for the 4th edition in January 2026. This time one more category has been added to promote talent i.e. original composition solo singing. The infrastructure provided is the best in class in terms of musicians, stage, lights and sound.
Deadline for registrations will be January 12. Auditions will be held on January 23 and finals will be on January 29. For Registrations contact Desmond Gomes, Project Manager on 8379043069. The competition will be held in 3 categories viz Solo and Duet and Solo Original composition The prizes for Solo are 1st Prize – Rs. 15,000 ; 2nd Prize – Rs. 12,000; 3rd Prize Rs. 8,000 along with trophies. For Duet and Solo original composition the prizes are 1st Prize – Rs 12,000 ; 2nd Prize – Rs 8,000; along with trophies.
