As a precautionary measure Kadamba Transport Corporation has kept its Maharashtra-bound buses off the roads in view of an indefinite strike by the Maharashtra State Transport employees strike.
The decision has cost the Corporation Rs 1.70 lakh in revenue they would have earned had they to keep the buses plying.
Speaking to The Goan, Chairman of the Kadamba Transport Corporation Carlos Almeida said that around 14 bus trips have been affected but the inter-state overnight routes have remained
largely unaffected. "The buses that left to Pune, Shirdi and Bombay reached this morning. Other buses we have parked in the depot of their night halt in places like Kolhapur. None of our buses have been damaged as a result of not being operated," Almeida said.
However, owing to a large number of requests on account of people's travelling needs ahead of the Diwali festival on Wednesday.
"The late night buses will be allowed to depart today (Tuesday evening) since most of the risk exists during the day hours," Almeida said.
The employees of the MSRTC have gone on an indefinite strike demanding implementation of 7th pay commission and interim hike of 25 per cent till the recommendations are implemented.
