St Xavier’s College & TAG to host international seminar on Tiatr

St Xavier’s College, Mapusa, in collaboration with the Tiatr Academy of Goa (TAG), will host an International Seminar on Tiatr titled “Echoes from the Past, Voices of Today” on 28th March 2025. The seminar aims to encourage academic discussions, research, and critical appreciation of Tiatr as a cultural and literary form.

The event will begin with registration at 9:00 AM, followed by the inaugural session at 9:30 AM. The keynote address will be delivered by Tiatr scholar Fausto D’Costa. Other dignitaries include TAG President Anthony Barbosa, Vice President Marcus Gonsalves, and Member Secretary Suresh Divkar. Principal of St. Xavier’s College, Filipe Rodrigues e Melo, and Administrator Antonio Salema will also be present.

The seminar will feature two academic sessions. The first, chaired by tiatrist Tomazinho Cardozo, will cover Tiatr kantaram, societal reflections in Tiatr, European drama’s influence on Tiatr, and a comparative analysis of J.A. Fernandes and T.B. Cunha. Presenters include Cosma Fernandes, Luis Gomes, Juao Costa, and Remy Dias. The second session, chaired by tiatrist Wilson Mazarelo, will focus on evolving Tiatr trends, folk values, competition versus commercial Tiatr, and music in political dissent.
