Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Friday said the Statewide curfew currently in force will be extended beyond June 28 but added that the formal announcement about the exact number of days it will be extended will be made at the weekend.
Goa has been under a partial curfew since May 9 with multiple extensions as the second Covid-19 wave ravaged the State.
Cases of the Delta Plus mutant, said to be the potential trigger for a third wave forecast by experts, is said to be worrying the government which is dithering on lifting the curfew curbs.
Meanwhile, Health Minister Vishwajit Rane has said, stringent monitoring is taking place at the borders in view of the ‘Delta Plus’ variant cases in the neighbouring States.
“The Chief Minister has already issued instructions. We need to ensure that our borders are secure to prevent the variant from entering Goa. To date, no cases of Delta Plus Variant have been found,” Rane said.
Regular OPDs to start from today
PANAJI: Government hospitals, which were on Thursday de-notified as dedicated Covid facilities, will begin regular out-patient consultations soon.
According to the Chief Minister, the onset of monsoons brings its own challenges due to a bouquet of other non-Covid infections among the local population requiring commencement of regular functioning of other Outpatient Departments (OPDs)
The chief minister said the de-notified hospitals can be notified again as and when needed.
